Born in 1981 and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Davi Mello grew up listening to a wide range of musical inspirations from Dominguinhos, Milton Nascimento, and all kinds of Brazilian folk music, to Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix.

From 2004 until 2010 he performed as guitar player for Acuri, brazilian jazz quintet, developing a rich rhythmic and melodic vocabulary thru a deep research into the brazilian folk music applied to the jazz vocabulary, under huge influence of the master Hermeto Pascoal. In 2006 the group released its first album named "Infância" reaching the top 3 chart in MySpace under Brazilian Jazz category. After that, the group had won several relevant prizes and competitions which led to an international tour in India and Sri Lanka, performing 30 concerts in music festivals and venues.
From 2005 to 2009 he joined the UFRJazz Ensemble -jazz big band of Rio de Janeiro Federal University- performing along some of the great names in the brazilian musical scene in many different shows and projects, such as Guinga, Wagner Tiso, Hermeto Pascoal, Gilson Peranzzetta, Nivaldo Ornelas, Jovino Santos Neto, Hamilton de Holanda, Francis Hime, among others. In 2006 Davi Mello recorded the second album of the big band, which was nominated for one of the most important prizes in the brazilian music industry, Prêmio Tim da Música Brasileira, under "brazilian jazz" category.
For the last six years he has collaborated with singer and composer Danilo Caymmi as a guitar player and musical director in several projects, touring extensively around Brazil.
Since 2012, Davi Mello collaborates with the band Noites do Norte, performing an important work of cultural rescue of the Amazonic folk music in the cultural scene of Rio de Janeiro.

As a sideman Davi Mello has performed in concerts and recordings among artists such as Gilson Peranzzetta, Mauro Senise, Chico Buarque, Itiberê Zwarg, Alice Caymmi, Oran Etkin, Alma Thomas and others.
In 2019, inspired by recent influences of modern jazz and former influences of brazilian music, Davi Mello decided to bring his recent compositions to life and released his first solo project as a band leader ahead the Davi Mello Trio.
